Inspection & Audits

DP Trials: Dynamic Positioning (DP) Trials involve testing a vessel’s dynamic positioning system to ensure it can maintain its position automatically using its own propellers and thrusters, which is critical for operations like drilling, cable laying, or diving support.

Vessel Inspections: These are general inspections of a ship to assess its condition, safety, and compliance with relevant regulations.

On/Off Hire Inspections/Audits: These inspections are conducted when a vessel is being chartered (on hire) or returned (off hire) to ensure the condition of the vessel, note any damages, and assess its suitability for the intended service.

ISM/ISPS/MLC Audits:

ISM (International Safety Management) Audits: Ensure compliance with the ISM Code, which focuses on the safe management and operation of ships and pollution prevention.
ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) Audits: Evaluate a vessel’s compliance with the ISPS Code, which addresses security measures for ships and port facilities.
MLC (Maritime Labour Convention) Audits: Ensure that the working and living conditions on board vessels meet the standards set by the MLC.

Management Audits: These are evaluations of the effectiveness and efficiency of a company’s management practices, particularly in relation to safety, operations, and regulatory compliance.
3rd Party Specialized Inspections: Inspections conducted by independent third parties with expertise in specific areas, such as structural integrity, machinery, or environmental compliance.
Pre-purchase Inspections: Detailed inspections conducted before the purchase of a vessel to assess its condition and value, often involving a thorough check of the vessel’s structure, machinery, and documentation.
OCIMF SIRE/OVID/CMID Inspections: OCIMF SIRE (Ship Inspection Report Programme): A standardized inspection protocol focused on the safety and operational integrity of tankers.
OVID (Offshore Vessel Inspection Database): Similar to SIRE but focused on offshore vessels, used by oil companies to assess vessel suitability.
CMID (Common Marine Inspection Document): A standard inspection format used to assess the condition and safety of marine vessels, particularly in the offshore industry.
Pre-vetting Inspection: An inspection conducted prior to an official vetting inspection, often by oil majors or charterers, to identify and rectify any potential issues that could lead to a negative vetting report.
Warranty Survey: Independent inspections conducted to verify that a vessel or its cargo meets the required standards and conditions, typically associated with insurance claims or guarantees.
Navigation Audits: Assessments of a vessel’s navigational practices, equipment, and procedures to ensure compliance with international regulations and safety standards.
